Becky & Jacob- Edmonton Wedding Photography

March 18, 2015

Becky and Jacob got married in Smoky Lake, Alberta at the beautiful Dickie Bush Ukrainian Church on top of a picturesque hill in the middle of the country side. The day started with a house full of friends getting ready and so much laughter. Everyone was enjoying themselves, having fun and shooting polaroids. Jacob thoughtfully sent over gifts for Becky and her parents. He got his father-in-law to be a new rifle- I had to joke that he must feel very comfortable with his new inlaws to be buying his fiancee’s dad a gun ;). He also surprised Becky with flowers and an inside joke that made her laugh and then cry a couple of happy tears. My favourite kind of inside joke.

After everyone was ready, Becky and her Dad took a horse drawn carriage up to the ceremony location while the rest of us followed. The day was hot- one of the hottest days of the summer for sure- and the little old church was filled to the brim with family and friends. Guests were even half way down the stairs outside during the ceremony, waiting for a glimpse of the bride and groom on their way out. After a beautiful ceremony, the carriage picked them up and we dashed away for some portraits before the reception at Smoky Lake Recreation Complex.

I loved Becky and Jacob’s wedding reception. I loved the fact that they made so much of the traditional Ukrianian food themselves. I loved how the community came together to create a beautiful dessert table. And LOVED the flash mob. Right in the middle of the speeches guests got up and danced to “Best Day of My Life” much to the shock of the bride and groom. It was adorable, heartfelt made everyone laugh (and made Becky cry). It was one of my favourite wedding moments of my career. Well done family & friends <3

Thank you Becky and Jacob for a wonderful, hot sunny day. You guys are adorable together and continually make everyone around you laugh. Your natural happiness is contagious. I’m so grateful to have gotten to know you both.

Hugs
